THIS IS MICK

Shot this with my new Powershot! Literally seconds after the sun crept over the horizon. Some color post, no crop.

I bought this today.

Now I can play the part 24/7. Merry Christmas to me!

Another from the abandoned school. Lit only by light leak from windows.

This was another quick shot. Have a concept I'd love to explore using this light.

Hello again.

I was going through some old files (old, yet the most recent I have), and pulled up this shot of a friend, taken at an abandoned high school.

I cropped this in-camera. Upon opening it in PS, I discovered that several tight crops would create new and different images. Each crop would reveal less than one-tenth of the original image.

I began to edit down a few of them. My original idea for this post was to demonstrate how one photograph can be made into a multitude of images, each with its own separate identity. I will not refute that. However, as I continued, I favored each mini-image less and less. Something felt wrong. While the images were effective, they did not represent my intention at the moment of capture.

I must create with intent. I must have a purpose or concept. I must be mindful. I must make photographs.

Otherwise, I'm just taking pictures.
